I was all set to hit publish on a list of my top seattle recs today, but then we went to costco on my lunch break and I felt compelled to pivot.
this quick list features four tried & trues I purchase every trip plus three fun finds I’m very excited about.
notably, i found out that costco doesn’t have nor has ever carried aperol which for some reason shook me.
make sure you’re subscribed for weekly meal plans + grocery lists vetted by me plus cooking playlists curated by my music-obsessed husband. let’s just say I’m extra excited about this week’s menu.
1. kirkland prosecco 🥂
kicking things off with one of my aforementioned costco staples: their DOGC-certified sparkling wine for $6.99 a pop.
if you don’t know, DOGC is the highest classification italian wines can be awarded, so anything with that fancy label around the neck = it’s the best. there are currently only 70-something of them, so it’s kind of a big deal.
we like to keep a bottle or two on hand in case anyone comes over for an impromptu celebration, but we loaded up this time because we plan to serve aperol spritzes at our housewarming party on friday.
2. organic castelvetrano olives
in case you couldn’t tell, this is one of the new exciting finds! while I love all olives (hehe) castelvetrano are by far the superior type. use them in salads, cheese boards or just eat one whenever you feel like it.
this enormous jar was $7, which is usually the price for a lil dinky one.
3. organic strawberries 🍓
okay buying fruit at costco is not a secret hack. they are known and loved for consistently offering the best deals on organic produce. but! i will say quality varies depending on season and this week’s batch looked particularly ripe and juicy. better strawberries are basically the only good thing about summer.
this jumbo clamshell was $5.99
4. impossible nuggets
my favorite find this trip! they carry these elsewhere but this is the biggest bag i’ve ever seen for basically the price of the smaller ones at other stores—the regular size always seems to disappear too quickly. impossible nuggets are the closest thing to regular chicken nuggets I’ve found not to mention one of my favorite quick and satisfying lunches.
found in the freezer aisle for $8.50
5. greek yogurt
someone was asking me the other day how I get enough protein, and while I can’t truly confirm that I do (I have no clue) I do know I eat a lot of greek yogurt. all of this to say, we go through a lot of it. every morning I make joe and I a smoothie with spinach, banana, frozen fruit, protein powder, cinnamon, and (you guessed it) greek yogurt.
this giant tub is $5.99!
6. salmon
speaking of protein, I also eat fish 1-2x weekly. costco often has ethically sourced seafood for way less than I’ve seen elsewhere. I love buying a whole fillet, chopping it into smaller pieces, and freezing for later.
*TIP* use pieces of parchment paper to separate the smaller fillets.
prices range from about $20 to $50 depending on size which can seem like a lot for fish but when you consider how many servings you’re getting at once it saves you cash in the long run. we paid $22 for this one, which came out to 6.5 servings.
7. scrub daddy 8-pack
let’s end on the only non-food item! this scrub daddy pack was $11 which is LESS than I’ve seen for a pack of 3.
I love that they come in a variety of hardness levels for different surfaces and are color-coded by room so you don’t accidentally use the bathroom scrub daddy in the kitchen.
okay that’s it! drop any of your fave costco finds in the comments, if you’d like :) and otherwise talk to you all sunday 👋
